The MVP Southgate project team is resuming survey activity along the proposed right of way in early June in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, and Rockingham County, North Carolina. This work is designed to update information gathered in 2018 and 2019 and will inform development of the revised MVP Southgate project.
Field work is expected to be completed in June and will involve small crews gathering updated civil, cultural and environmental data.
The revised MVP Southgate project’s proposed route is approximately 31 miles, starting near Chatham, Virginia, and ending near Eden, North Carolina. The majority of the route will be collocated along existing infrastructure corridors, and the project will involve 30-inch diameter underground pipe.
The MVP Southgate project is designed to meet growing demand for natural gas in the region. PSNC Energy and Duke Energy have signed long-term shipping agreements for the project’s full capacity. The MVP Southgate project is targeted for completion in 2028.
